Along with a select number of my classmates in Interact (High School Division of Rotary), I was selected to attend RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards). This was a multi-day leadership and service oriented program, where we had the tremendous opportunity to listen to engaging speakers such as one of Alex's Lemonade stand's founders, a polio survivor, and a Project Honduras volunteer. Furthermore, we participated in a meal packing event for Rise Against Hunger, creating over 10,000 meals, all the while bonding and learning how to work in a team. Throughout the conference, our leadership and communication skills were tested, which I truly think helped me to become a much better leader, teammate, and person. At the end of the program, we all received certificates of recognition for our leadership and service by Rotary.
I have been a member of the World Language National Honor Society since my Sophomore Year of High School, and plan to continue my French education all the way through AP French.
- My junior year, I was a captain for my softball team. I also had the honor of receiving the ambassador award for leadership and service. I really appreciated this nomination by my coaches and was excited to receive the award, even though they engraved my name wrong on the plaque. (no e at the end of Brook)
