I was lucky enough to shadow both a triple boarded doctor, and a Chief Medical Officer over the summer. This experience was absolutely magnificent; it furthered my love for the medical field and gave me the opportunity to meet a lot of great people, including the patient pictured, who brought a smile to our faces every day.
For my senior year, I was awarded an officer position in my 400 person high school Interact club. I am the treasurer of the club and am in charge of all the finances and transactions.
My friend and I made and sold scrunchies to raise money to buy children's books for a new library they are building in James Place, Uganda. We raised around $750 dollars for the cause and hope to continue this charitable business either continuing to raise money for this cause or contributing to a separate cause.
Recently for Interact, I got the opportunity to volunteer at an event for Project Cure, where we packed expired medical supplies (they were still good to use), and sent them to countries that desperately needed them. Our session was able to fill multiple crates that were being sent to Greece.
As an officer of STEAM club, I aided in the planning, and execution of our STEAM night. We had hundreds of kids, all ages, come to the school, and were able to introduce them to the STEAM fields through fun experiments and captivating speakers.
I was also able to be chair of the tickets committee for dinner and a show, an event organized by our interact club where we brought senior citizens in from nearby retirement homes, fed them a meal, and led them in to watch one of our school's theatrical productions.
